Mountain Jahorina, an Olympic beauty, is located in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the Balkan Peninsula, in southeastern Europe. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOn Jahorina ends the warm Mediterranean climate and begins colder continental climate, so every season is ideal for a holiday on Jahorina. In summer, Jahorina is overgrown with thick grass and forest, and in winter the height of snow reaches up to three meters.\n\nJahorina was discovered in 1878. as a mountain suitable for rest and tourism, when Austria-Hungary built the first hunting lodge there. Numerous hotels<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHotel construction on Jahorina started back in 1923. and since then numerous hotels and mountain lodges have been built, which were eventually demolished or burned in war conflicts, but then new, better and bigger ones were built on their foundations. The first independent ski organization, founded in 1933. under the name Ski Club Sarajevo, organized an international competition in alpine disciplines on Jahorina before 1941. Immediately after the Second World War, roads to Jahorina were built, and in 1947. there was also and electricity – an underground cable for electricity transmission and telephone connection was built, and the construction of numerous hotels began.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The first cable car on Jahorina was officially opened on November 29th, 1952. The departure station was located at in that time hotel “Jahorina” at an altitude of 1,660 m and went to a height of 1,885 m on Gola Jahorina. The length of the cable car, with 102 single seats, and a capacity of 360 passengers per hour, was 1,050 m. The ride from the departure station to the top took eight minutes. The ski slopes at that time were 3,660 meters long. In 1957. Jahorina hosted the Third Youth Championship of the Alpine countries.<\/p>\n

The second cable car was opened in 1965., from Poljice, at an altitude of 1,530 m, to the \u201cZacarani Dvori\u201d below Ogorjelica, at 1,908 meters above sea level. The third cable car was opened on January 14th, 1971.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Thirteen years later \u2013 Jahorina got label \u201cOlympic beauty\u201d because in 1984. Sarajevo was chosen to host the Winter Olympic Games, and a competition in alpine skiing for women was held on Jahorina, in three disciplines – downhill, slalom and giant slalom. That year and the Olympic event marked a historical turning point in the development of this mountain. In addition to the Olympic Games, numerous ski competitions in various disciplines at the local, European and world level have been held on Jahorina so far, and will remain so.<\/p>\n

Today, Jahorina is one of the most modern ski centers in the Balkans, which greets all visitors with Olympic rings right at the entrance to the mountain complex, and the mascot \u201cVucko\u201d can be seen at every step.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The ski resort consists of 45 km of Alpine and 10 km of Nordic trails. The mountain has a modern snowmaking system with more than 45 cannons, which covers all trails, so even in winters with light snow, skiing is possible. All slopes are connected by a modern and safe system of lifts, with a total capacity of about 17,000 skiers \/ boarders \/ visitors per hour, the slopes are covered with one gondola, three six-seater cable cars, one two-seater cable car and three ski lifts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
